Numerous exits from the track and poor visibility due to rain, but Super Lap Driving Academy drivers made their mark in a setting where technical preparation makes all the difference.
Among the curves of the Mugello Circuit, the undisputed home of automotive passion and tradition, a new season of the GTC Championship has begun, which on this rainy Easter Monday inaugurated its gripping six-stage program for 2024.
This exclusive competition is dedicated solely to Porsche cars, both road and racing versions, and is distinguished by its unique “time attack” type race format, which tests the skill and speed of the participants, who compete with the best lap time.
The weather conditions on this Easter Monday at Mugello turned the race into a true test of skill and tenacity, as the rain, which fell incessantly for most of the day, made the asphalt particularly treacherous, testing the drivers’ dexterity.
During the competition, a few exits from the track kept those involved with bated breath, but thanks to the advanced design of the circuit’s escape routes and the rigorous attention to safety by the GTC organizers, no damage to the cars was recorded, allowing all drivers to continue the race and finish the event. These circumstances offered a tangible demonstration of the engineering excellence of the Porsches and the effectiveness of the safety measures implemented by the circuits chosen for the championship.
At each GTC event, Super Lap Driving Academy, the driving school founded by driver Walter Palazzo together with Livia Magnano, will be present, who commented thus on the excellent results of the drivers followed at Mugello: – “This academy performs a dual function, because it operates both as a race team and as a school for drivers. The idea behind it is to make it easier for gentlemen drivers to enter the world of competition, offering them a path of sporting development that is safe and well guided. With the experience of a long-time coach, drivers can grow and hone their skills in the competitive environment, even starting from scratch.”
In fact, at Mugello, the drivers followed by Super Lap all went to the podium in their respective categories: the Maltese Daniel Montebello and the Catanese Domenico Zappalà in 992 GT3 who obtained the second and third place, while the Gelese Massimo Caci triumphed with a brilliant first place on the GT4 podium.
The next round of the GTC Championship will move beyond the Italian borders, specifically to the Red Bull Ring in Austria on April 21. This circuit, known for hosting some of the most prestigious events in international motorsport, promises to raise the bar of competition even higher and offer excitement and thrill to all participants.
