What is a skid car and how does it work

The device known to many as Car Skid or Car Skate, is used for training exercises for the controlled skid of a motors vehicle. It is used to improve driving skills and reflexes.

The devices is chosen by the best driving schools as it is the ideal way to train the course participants for understeer situations as well as to create fun situations in playing around with a skid in controlled and safe environments, setup specifically for the course.

Our particular device is make up of two independent metal bars made that are connected to the rear wheels of the car. These metal bars have their own wheels and will take on the weight and rotation of the rear of the training vehicle.

In this way the weight of the car normally handle by the tire, is entirely transferred onto the wheels of this Car Skip device to easily generate fast and quick changes of directions, in what is known as the pendulum effect.

Once mounted to the vehicle, the Car Skid can we set to simulate different levels of adhesion / grip. The move weight we transfer onto the Car Skid , the harder it is to control the skid, as, even the slightest change in direction will trigger the pendulum effect.

What are the benefits of the Car Skid training

The Car Skid was the function of facilitating the initiation of a skid and testing the driver who will have to manage the oversteer while maintaining the direction of the car without losing control of the vehicle

When a vehicle loses grip on the rear axle, oversteer occurs. This must be corrected by performing an immediate counter steer and operating the accelerator in an appropriate manner.

How much counter steer in needed? Experience on the Car Skid is useful because it teaches you how to manage oversteer in the most effective way to maintain control of the vehicle and restore stability and grip.

Learning to gauge the use of the accelerator and getting the right steering angle, coupled with quick reflexes are the most important skills to acquire.
